1 Our Promises
- We never sell your personal information.
- We never record your voice or video calls.
- We never read your chats to target you with adverts. Messages are visible only to you and the person you are chatting with, apart from what is needed to handle a report or a legal request.
- We only collect what we need to run Amar, and we ask your consent for the sensitive parts.
- You can see, fix, or delete your information at any time.
2 What We Use, and Why
- Profile, photos and quiz answers — shown to other members and used to suggest people to you. Kept until you delete your account.
- Optional details (religion, who you want to meet) — used only to improve your matches, with your consent. Kept until you remove them or delete your account.
- Location — an approximate, deliberately blurred position used to show people near you. Others see a rough distance, never your exact spot. Updated while you use the app; deleted with your account. Turn it off any time in your phone’s settings.
- Verification video — one frame is compared with your profile photo by automated face-matching (Amazon Rekognition). The video is private and not shown to other members. Deleted with your account.
- Messages, voice notes and media — delivered to the person you send them to. Deleted when either account is deleted.
- Call details — who, when, type and length, so tokens can be charged correctly. Calls themselves are not recorded.
- Payments and tokens — a record of purchases and your balance. We never see card details. Records kept up to 7 years for tax and financial law.
- Reports and blocks — used to keep the community safe.
- Push-notification and device details — used to send you the alerts you allow (likes, matches, messages).
- Website analytics — only if you accept cookies: visits, rough location, device and button clicks. Kept by Google Analytics for no more than 14 months.
3 Who Else Handles It
Only service providers that help us run Amar: Google Firebase (sign-in, chat, call ringing, online status), Google Play/Apple (payments), Agora (calls), OneSignal (notifications), Amazon Web Services (face comparison), our hosting provider, and — with your consent — Google Analytics on our website. Some of them process data outside South Africa; we make sure it stays protected. Details are in the Privacy Policy.
4 Automated Decisions
Two things on Amar are automated: suggesting matches from what members share, and the verification face-match. A failed verification only means you do not get the badge; it does not affect your account. If you think it was wrong, email privacy@amardating.com and a person will review it.
5 Your Controls
- Edit your profile, photos and preferences in the app.
- Turn off location or notifications in your phone settings.
- Block or report a member from their profile or a chat.
- Change your cookie choice any time under Cookie Settings.
- Ask for a copy of your information, or a correction, at privacy@amardating.com.
- Delete your account in the app (Settings → Account → Delete Account & My Data) or on our Data Deletion page. Deleting from the app takes effect immediately; backup copies are overwritten within 30 days.
